Raw Materials

Our raw materials division is one of the world’s leading distributors of raw materials. By selling metals, alloys, minerals, technical gases, and coke, we are the link between raw materials producers and the processing industry, ensuring seamless production processes along the entire value chain and for our customers.

Offering variety, securing supply

Our metallurgy division offers all types of alloys and metals for the steelmaking, processing and chemical industries. Decades of experience, in-depth market expertise, and comprehensive quality monitoring make us a key supplier to these industrial sectors and at the same time an important partner to leading raw materials producers all over the world.

When it comes to minerals, solid fuels and energy we are also among the leading suppliers of fossil fuels, carburizing agents, refractory raw materials, industrial minerals, grid-bound energy, and the entire range of related services. With our patented sequence impulse process (SIP), we also offer resource-saving engineering services for operators of blast, shaft, and cupola furnaces.

Our products

Our main focus is on coke and coal, including processing and logistics services. The four major areas include blast furnace and foundry coke, power generation coal, and anthracite.

Our wholesale offers a broad range of raw materials including practically all metals and alloys in powder form. In addition to standard powders, we also offer powders tailored to customer specifications. These include ground, gas, and water atomized powders in the low to high alloyed range as well as nearly all technically producible non-ferrous base alloys. We also offer powder metals for the fast-growing market of 3D printing technology.

Our ferrous alloys division is one of the most efficient in Europe. We provide customers who operate steel and stainless steel works with the products they need to suit their individual requirements.

As a leading supplier of industrial minerals, we supply the refractory market with raw materials on a global basis. The range of raw materials we offer includes all common mineral raw materials for the refractory, foundry, and ceramic industries as well as auxiliary materials for metallurgy. We also offer a wide array of minerals for special-purpose applications.

Our core business is the worldwide procurement, reworking, and distribution of carburizing products for the foundry and steel industries. Our product range includes the complete supply of carburizing agents.

Our team of experts is always happy to assist you in supplying your plants with grid-bound energy and technical gases or to advise you in all matters relating to energy. Our portfolio for supplying your plants with electricity and gas ranges from energy management to straightforward energy procurement.

Via our company thyssenkrupp AT.PROtec GmbH we also offer resource-efficient engineering services for operators of blast, shaft, and cupola furnaces with the patented sequence impulse process (SIP). The SIP process, developed by thyssenkrupp in-house and patented, is used for the supply of technical gases, especially oxygen, into the smelting zone in the form of impulses. Compared to conventional processes, the advantages achieved with this technology result in both significantly lower costs for the customer and increased resource efficiency.

We procure and supply foundry coke for our customers in the processing industry. It serves both as fuel and as a reducing agent in cupola furnaces. Unlike blast furnace coke, it is coked longer and at a lower temperature.

Non-ferrous metals such as nickel and zinc are widely used in production in the automotive industry, in brass production and, for example, in fine zinc alloys such as ZAMAK. We supply our customers in the electroplating industry with nickel, which is used in a variety of plating processes. We support the production of zinc oxide with high-quality zinc, an important component in the manufacturing of car tires, paints, and pharmaceuticals.

When it comes to chrome ore sand, we help our customers manufacture parts subject to high thermal stress, for example in the core production of engines. Our chrome ore sand is used as molding, core, and mooring sand.
